XRP & Ripple Weekly News Review — Week of August 31–September 6, 2026
How this review works: sixteen stories, each with a named source and a snapshot date, plus an editorial take where the data earns one. Nothing is printed without a public paper trail. This edition was revised on September 14, 2026 under our fully sourced data policy; a few week-spanning series (daily ETF prints, September tallies) were finalized in later coverage and are included with their actual reading dates.

| Thu Sep 3 | +$6.14M | Flows resume the very next session |
| Fri Sep 4 | ≈flat | The tape pauses ahead of the holiday week |
| Streak total (Aug 18–Sep 1) | +~$170M | 11 consecutive sessions of net inflows |
My take: the most important number in this table is the smallest one. A record streak that ends with a $7.20M outflow — and flips back to +$6.14M the next session — is not a stampede out the door; it is a bid pausing for breath. Compare the streak's book-ends: it started August 18 when the drought broke, and it ended September 2 with less money leaving in one day than the complex had absorbed in a single hour of its record week. Flows are sticky until proven otherwise.
1. The 11-session inflow streak ends with a $7.20M whimper Market & ETF
On Wednesday, September 2, the longest daily inflow streak in the complex's history ended — with a single −$7.20M outflow (SoSoValue daily prints; via 24/7 Wall St., Sep 10). No issuer exodus, no redemption wave: one down day, followed by +$6.14M on September 3 and a flat session September 4.
My take: streaks end; the question is what they end with. This one ended with 0.4% of the record week's inflow leaving the building. That asymmetry — $170M in, $7.2M out — is the cleanest behavioral evidence yet that this holder base is an allocator, not a trader.
2. The streak's full ledger: +~$170M across 11 sessions Market & ETF
Assembled from the published windows: +$43.06M over August 18–21 (calculated as the $153.55M month-to-Aug-28 total minus the record week), +$110.49M over August 24–28 — the largest week of 2026 — and the two calculated September sessions (≈+$5.7M Aug 31, ≈+$10.8M Sep 1) completing the tally at +~$170M across 11 consecutive sessions (SoSoValue via Yellow.com, Aug 31; Finobird; Summa Money; via 24/7 Wall St., Sep 10).
My take: the composition matters as much as the total. Half the streak arrived in one record week; the rest arrived at $5–11M per day — the cadence of scheduled allocation, not discretionary bursts. That cadence is what makes the streak's resumption (item 1) the market's most honest leading indicator.
3. August closes as the complex's best month ever Market & ETF
The month-to-date record of $153.55M through August 28 (SoSoValue via Finobird / Summa Money) became a final tally of roughly $159.2M once August 31's session printed (SoSoValue). It beats May's $131.94M, April's $81.59M and February's $58.09M, with $150.28M of it arriving in the final fortnight. Issuer split of the record month: Bitwise ~$92M (61%), Franklin ~$36M, Canary ~$15M, others ~$7M.
For scale: Bitcoin's spot complex took in about $3.52B in the same month — roughly 22 times XRP's record — and about $55.6B cumulatively since January 2024 against XRP's $1.68B (SoSoValue, September tally). XRP's August was a record for its own complex and a rounding error at market scale; both facts are true and both matter.
4. Cumulative inflows open September near $1.68B Market & ETF
The complex entered September with roughly $1.67B in cumulative net inflows (SoSoValue via Yellow.com, Aug 31) and closed the week near $1.68B (calculated from the daily prints). The $1.70B line was crossed on September 9 — the week after this one (SoSoValue via 24/7 Wall St., Sep 10). Fund holdings per one tracker estimate: ~1.11B XRP at month-end, slightly more than 1% of the 100B total supply.
5. The contributed-vs-held gap: ~$230M of mark-to-market Market & ETF
At the August 31 prints: contributed capital ~$1.67B, net assets $1.44B (SoSoValue via Yellow.com, Aug 31) — a gap of roughly $230M (calculated). The gap is not redemptions; it is price. Investors contributed $1.67B and the token's slide from the $1.70 high to ~$1.38 shaved the value of what those contributions bought.
My take: the gap is the market's cleanest conviction gauge. It measures how much loss the aggregate holder has absorbed without net redemption — and this week, the answer was: one $7.2M outflow day's worth. The gauge to watch into the Fed: whether the gap stabilizes (flows and price both) or widens from the flow side.
6. RLUSD: $2.02B at the crossing, $2.32B by September's compilation Stablecoins
The most recent sourced prints bracket the week: Ripple confirmed the $2B crossing on August 25 with RWA.xyz reading $2.02B (Crypto Times, Aug 25–26), and September compilations put the token at $2.32B (RWA.xyz via crypto.news). Between the prints, supply consolidated above $2B with no visible redemption event.
My take: a $1-pegged token's market cap only moves when supply does, so this chart is a demand ledger, not a price chart. The +15% drift between the two prints is corridor issuance compounding through a holiday week — quiet, calendar-driven, and exactly the profile the asset was designed for.
7. XRPL-side RLUSD holds above $1B — over 90% of the ledger's stablecoins Stablecoins
The XRPL side of RLUSD crossed $1B on August 28 (Ripple Stablecoin Tracker via COINOTAG), up from $962.9M at the crossing read — and represents more than 90% of all stablecoin supply on the XRP Ledger. The holder base stayed wholesale: 84,630 holders, 1.39M monthly transfers, $11.81B transfer volume (+17% MoM) against 8,252 active addresses (−25.2% MoM) (RWA.xyz via Crypto Times, Aug 25).
8. The tape: a $1.38-to-low-$1.40s grind between the records Market
XRP opened the week at the August close of ~$1.38 (Yellow.com, Aug 31–Sep 1) and spent it grinding the low $1.40s — the bookends are sourced (the month-end print and the following week's early ~$1.44 print), the daily closes between are not independently published, so the honest weekly description is: range-bound, quietly higher, on roughly +2–4% (calculated). No new highs, no new lows, the $1.30 shelf untouched.
My take: this is what a market looks like while its two ledgers negotiate. The fund complex added ~$15M; the tape gave up nothing. After a month in which records and crashes shared a calendar, a boring week is itself information — the divergence stopped widening, which is the precondition for it resolving in either direction.
9. OI reset digested: −15.5% through the month's close Derivatives
Futures open interest ended August down 15.5% from August 17 — a block figure; weekly interpolation was not published (CoinGlass via CoinDesk, Sep 8). Combined with the tape: a +28% month carried by spot demand and short covering, with the leverage cycle having been squeezed out rather than added to.
10. Funding back on the positive side of flat Derivatives
Funding — which had no verifiable weekly print in late August — was dated by later coverage to a positive turn on August 28 near +0.01%/8h (CoinGlass via Coin Journal), where it has essentially stayed. Positioning is rebuilding, not leaping; the rebuild's pace into September 16 is the derivatives story.
11. CLARITY's cloture vote lands September 15 Policy
The Senate's CLARITY Act cloture vote is set for September 15 — 60 votes required — with the House breaking September 17 (CoinGabbar). It is the first hard test of the market-structure calendar, arriving the day before the Fed.
12. The Fed decides September 16, with CPI between Macro
The Federal Reserve's September decision lands on the 16th, with a CPI print between the CLARITY vote and the rate call (CoinGabbar). XRP enters the stack down roughly a quarter year-to-date despite August's +28% — calculated against the year's opening print — which is why macro is not the backdrop here; it is the swing factor.
My take: the scenario map is two-sided and simple. A dovish print with the flow streak's resumption intact hands the $1.50–$1.70 supply zone its first well-sponsored retest. A hawkish surprise tests $1.30 — the shelf that held all month — with the $1.00–$1.05 summer shelf as the structural downside reference. The divergence resolves from whichever side breaks first.
13. Supply watch: 62.74B market-basis vs 67.53B ledger-basis Ledger
Circulating supply read 62.74B XRP on the market-data basis (CoinGabbar, Sep 3) against 67.53B on the raw activated ledger basis (XRPScan, Jul 26). Aggregators apply Ripple's distribution methodology to exclude certain holdings; market caps are computed against the estimate. Both numbers are real; they measure different things — the full methodology note runs in the Aug 10–16 Data Report.
14. Escrow and burn: 32.445B locked, 14.37M gone Ledger
The standing snapshots: 32.445B XRP in escrow and 14.37M XRP permanently burned via fees, with 8.02M activated accounts ledger-wide (XRPScan, Jul 26). Escrow releases ~1B monthly, typically 60–80% re-escrowed — roughly a 300M net monthly drip against which the fund complex's ~$159M August is one marginal buyer among several.
15. Usage mix: 2.4M daily transactions (+21% YoY) on 40% fewer active accounts Network
September's compilations of ledger activity put daily transactions at 2.4M, up 21% year-over-year, while active accounts run ~40% below last year (crypto.news, September compilation). More transactions, fewer transactors: concentration again — the same signature RLUSD's own data shows.
My take: the ledger is consolidating into fewer, more serious users. That is the enterprise-adoption profile working — and the honest bear case in one line: if the institutions are the growth story, the retail breadth has not yet followed them onto the ledger.
16. DEX +79% YoY: the usage line that grew while accounts fell Network
XRPL DEX volume is up roughly 79% year-over-year (crypto.news, September compilation) — the fastest-growing usage line on the ledger, and the one most tied to RLUSD's arrival as a quote asset. Issuance-side and swap-side growth are beginning to feed each other.

FAQ
Did buyers leave when the streak ended?
No. The streak ended with a single −$7.20M outflow on September 2 — less than half a percent of the +$170M the streak had absorbed — and flows returned at +$6.14M the next session, with a flat session after. One down day is a pause; a pattern of them would be a trend.
Is the August record $153.55M or $159.2M?
$153.55M is the month-to-date figure through August 28 as published on Aug 31; roughly $159.2M is the final tally including August 31 (SoSoValue). Both are correct as of their stated dates and each is labeled where it appears.
Why do circulating-supply sources disagree?
They measure different bases: market-data aggregators apply Ripple's distribution methodology (~62.74B, CoinGabbar, Sep 3) while XRPScan reports raw activated ledger supply (67.53B, Jul 26). Market caps are computed against the estimate. Both are published with dates.
What actually happened to price this week?
A quiet grind: from ~$1.38 at the August close toward the low $1.40s by the following week's early prints — roughly +2–4% (calculated from sourced bookends, since the daily closes between are not independently published). No new highs, no new lows.
